As the registration deadline for new players approaches in the clubs of the Lithuanian capital at the beginning of the week, changes have occurred. Three former "Žalgiris" players have returned to Vilnius - Donatas Vencevičius, Igoris Morinas, and Aidas Prekšaitis, who will all play for different city teams.
30-year-old D. Vencevičius played for "Žalgiris" for six seasons, then three years in Poland, Denmark, one in Norway, and spent a significant part of the last season with the Maltese team "Marsaxlokk". After the contract with the latter club ended, Vencevičius returned to the "Vilnius" team, which he already represented in 2003 and played 17 matches.
Lithuanian national team attacker Igoris Morinas, who started his career at Vilnius' "Panerys", played for "Žalgiris" for three years, then even spent seven years in Germany, and returned to his former club after coming from the second German Bundesliga team "Jahn".
Meanwhile, 34-year-old Aidas Prekšaitis, who spent nine seasons with Žalgiris, and played in 8 clubs abroad during his career, will no longer play for the Polish "Świt" and Vilnius "Vėtra" teams, as he will replace the departed legionnaire Clement Beauda in Portugal.
The 24-year-old Cameroonian, Sydney Olympic champion, has signed a three-year contract with the "Academica de Coimbra" club. Although the conditions of the contract are not disclosed, it is said that the contract was signed in favorable conditions for both the player and the "Vėtra" club. Saying goodbye to Lithuania, Beauda thanked the leaders and coaches of the Vilnius team, calling his time here "an important stage in his career."
