The club today confirmed that Graeme Souness has become the new team manager. The 51-year-old Scotsman will be officially introduced at a press conference on Monday.
Previously, the renowned club player had recently been leading another English club. Currently, this club is only in 18th place in the Premier League, while Newcastle is climbing higher.
G. Souness will replace B. Robson in the coaching position, who was dismissed due to poor club results this season. This appointment was somewhat unexpected, as favorites for the head coach position were considered to be Steve Bruce and Terry Venables.
Since G. Souness's contract with Blackburn was not yet finished, the English club will receive compensation from Newcastle.
