On Tuesday, the qualifications for the 2006 European Youth Championship second round matches were played. In one of them, the Lithuanian youth national team hosted players from San Marino.

After a devastating loss to the Belgians, the Lithuanians had a chance to redeem themselves playing in front of their own fans at the Vilnius "Žalgiris" stadium.

From the beginning of the match, the Lithuanians had the initiative and attacked a lot. In the 22nd minute, the sparse crowd had an opportunity to rejoice, as after one of many attacks, the Lithuanians managed to score - Mikuckis from the right side made a pass into the penalty area, and Mindaugas Panka stopped the ball and sent it into the goal.

After playing another 16 minutes, Darvydas Šernas received a pass from a teammate and with a strong shot scored the second goal into San Marino's net. Despite scoring two goals, the Lithuanians did not ease up and had plenty of opportunities to score, but lacked accuracy in finishing attacks.

Tomorrow at 19:00 at the Kaunas "Darius and Girėnas" stadium, the national teams of both these countries will meet.
