On Tuesday, the new season of the UEFA Champions League began. Sixteen teams from groups E, F, G, and H started their battles in eight matches. No major surprises were recorded, and all the favorites secured victories.

In Group E, with the only goal scored by Brazilian Alex, the English champion Arsenal defeated PSV Eindhoven, while thanks to two goals by Ezequiel Gonzalez, Panathinaikos beat Rosenborg.

In Group F, AC Milan needed a precise shot by C. Seedorf at the end of the match to win against Shakhtar away. In another match, which was slightly delayed, Barcelona defeated Glasgow Celtic after a tough battle. By the way, one of Barcelona's goals was scored by a returning H. Larsson.

The favorites of Group G, Inter and Valencia, secured identical victories with a two-goal margin, leaving no hope for their opponents - Werder and Anderlecht respectively.

The most impressive victory of the day took place in Paris, where Chelsea crushed PSG, who hasn't won a game this season yet. Deivid Šembero's CSKA played a goalless draw with Porto.
