In the Russian "Premier" league, all 23rd round matches were played. Three of them took place on Saturday, four on Sunday, and one today, on Monday.
The St. Petersburg "Zenit" club continues to hold the first position, defeating "Torpedo" at home and securing their 15th victory of the season. Just two points behind the leader is Moscow's "CSKA", who this time crushed Vladikavkaz's "Alania" away.
The remaining three teams in the top five are now further behind the two leaders, as all of them suffered defeats in this round - the aforementioned "Torpedo", as well as Moscow's "Lokomotiv" unexpectedly losing to the absolute underdog "Rotor", and Samara's "Krylia Sovetov" conceding to Yaroslavl's "Shinnik" in sixth place.
The ambitious Moscow "Spartak" is slowly climbing up from the bottom of the table and this time defeated Kazan's "Rubin" team, another mid-level team "Saturn" also claimed victory, while "Moskva" played a draw, and the losing streak was finally broken by Moscow's "Dynamo".
