The UEFA Disciplinary Committee met on Tuesday and decided to award a technical defeat for the incident that occurred in the match against Kiev, as well as to ban spectators from two home matches.
The incident took place during the Champions League Group B match at the Rome Olympic Stadium: as the end of the half was announced, a flashlight thrown from the stands hit A.Frisco on the head and injured the referee. The match was then stopped, with the visitors leading 0-1 after the first half.
It was initially thought that due to the incident, the "Roma" club might not be able to play Champions League matches at home this season, or even be completely eliminated from the tournament, but UEFA decided to impose a milder punishment.
Firstly, the victory in the match will be awarded to the "Dinamo" team, and on November 3rd and December 8th, "Roma" will play their home matches against "Bayer" and "Real" behind closed doors. In addition, P.Mexes, who received a red card in the match, is suspended for two games.
The capital city club can appeal the committee's decision by this Friday, midnight, September 24th.
