During the night of Monday Lithuanian time, one of the most famous and renowned football players of all time, Diego Maradona, returned to Cuba to undergo treatment for drug addiction. Today, during one of his check-ups, he received a letter of support from Cuban President Fidel Castro.
Maradona has been good friends with the Cuban president since 1994. The Argentine even has a tattoo on his leg resembling Fidel Castro.
"When he arrived in Cuba, Diego was well prepared to fight his addiction. He also has strong support from the president," said one of Maradona's doctors.
Maradona, who won the World Cup with the Argentine national football team in 1986, spent the night at the Cuban Ministry of Health Center in a suburb of Havana. There, the footballer is expected to undergo a rehabilitation program.
"First, we need to regulate his weight and heart activity. Then, psychiatric and psychological treatments will follow," said one of the doctors.
