Right at the beginning of the match, "Lazio" could have taken the lead when L.Zauri had a chance after a pass from M.Oddo, but his header went straight to the goalkeeper. However, the visitors were more aggressive and goalkeeper A.Peruzzi had a lot of work defending from the attacks of H.Crespo and A.Shevchenko.

Despite the fact that the hosts had less ball possession, they scored the first goal - in the 37th minute, after a pass from A.Filippini, defender F.Couto headed the ball into the net. "Milan" immediately tried to respond, but at first Kaka missed the ball, then the goalkeeper saved a shot from Shevchenko, and at the end of the half P.Maldini hit wide.

In the second half, after seven minutes, M.Ambrosini received a red card for elbowing E.Filippini. Despite being a man down, the visitors did not give up and their efforts paid off as the Ukrainian Shevchenko equalized the score in the 70th minute with a corner kick, and then four minutes later he managed to put his team ahead with a great shot.

Later, Shevchenko almost scored his third goal, and on the other side of the field, the "Lazio" team missed by very little as S.Inzaghi's header hit the crossbar. At the end of the match, both teams exchanged dangerous attacks, but the match ended with "Milan" managing to win and equalize with "Lazio" in terms of points.
