The team finally finished the search for a new coach that lasted for several weeks - the German Ralf Rangnick became the new head coach. He will replace Jupp Heynckes, who was dismissed from his duties as head coach a few weeks ago.

In the summer, the team was strengthened by the addition of striker Ailton and defenders Mladen Krstajic and Marcelo Bordon, and the club did not hide its ambitions to fight for a high place in the championship. Unfortunately, the start of the new season was the worst for the club in the past 11 years.

Last season, under J. Heynckes, Schalke finished 7th in the German championship. The coach himself faced criticism in the summer for the decision to release several senior players, replacing them with inexperienced youth team players.

The new coach Rangnick started his coaching career at SSV Ulm 1846 club, later coaching at and clubs. He led the Hanover team from lower German leagues to the first Bundesliga, but in March of this year he was dismissed from the club. Since then, the coach has been out of work.
