FK "Ekranas" team head coach Virginijus Liubšys has decided to resign from the position of head coach of the Lithuanian youth (U-21) national team, announced the Panevėžys club and the Lithuanian Football Federation.
V. Liubšys cited as the main reason for his departure the fact that he wants to focus all his attention on working with the Lithuanian vice-champion team "Ekranas." Tomorrow, the coach will hold a press conference at the stadium of "Vėtra," where he will further comment on his decision.
V. Liubšys took over the position of strategist for the Lithuanian youth national team last year, when at that time the team was coached by Algimantas Liubinskas, who moved on to work with the national team.
In just two weeks, the Lithuanian youth national team will face tough competition - a match in Kaunas against the Spanish youth team in the European Championship qualifying Group 7. So far, the Lithuanians have one victory in two matches, achieved in a match against San Marino.
