It is reported that one of the leaders of the Edinburgh "Hearts" team, Chris Robinson, agreed to sell his 19.6% stake in the "Hearts" team to businessman from Lithuania, Vladimir Romanov, for almost 866 thousand pounds sterling (about 4 million 360 thousand litas).
All the shares C. Robinson owns are in the name of himself and his companies "Chrysalis Scotland Limited" and "New Hearts Limited", and the transfer will be completed by December 8.
It is planned that later V. Romanov should also acquire his opinion and the "Tynecastle" stadium, where the "Hearts" team plays.
It is said that V. Romanov continues negotiations with other club shareholders - former club leader Leslie Dean and real estate tycoon Robert McGrail.
V. Romanov's representative announced the transfer of shares today at the London Stock Exchange, saying: "We have been looking for opportunities to participate in Scottish football for some time now, and we believe that here in Edinburgh we have found a very inviting investment opportunity. We were particularly impressed by the team's strength and personnel. The acquisition of Chris Robinson's shares means that Mr. Romanov personally commits to the club. Mr. Romanov is convinced that by working with the Club Board, key creditors, and other interested parties, excellent opportunities can be created for shareholders, employees and fans."
Earlier, V. Romanov wanted to invest in other Scottish clubs - "Dundee", "Dundee Utd" and "Dunfermline Athletic", but failed to reach an agreement. The millionaire tried to negotiate with the Scottish Football Federation, because by acquiring any club, there would be opportunities for Lithuanian footballers to move there and improve.
V. Romanov has many connections to football - he owns the Lithuanian champion FBK "Kaunas", and he is also acquainted with the president of the LFF Liutauras Varanavicius, as the latter is the president of the bank "Ūkio", in which Romanov is the main shareholder.
