Coach Harry Redknapp is looking to strengthen his team with experienced defender Marcel Desailly. The 36-year-old veteran is currently without a team.
A gap in the "Portsmouth" defense opened up when defender Arjan De Zeeuw suffered an injury. He will be out for about a month.
Last season, M. Desailly represented . Although he had a contract with this London club for another year, the team decided to decline the services of the Frenchman born in Ghana. Currently, the former French national team player works in television.
"I am looking for a defender who currently does not have a contract," said Harry Redknapp. "I would really like to have M. Desailly in my team as it would be a great acquisition. I have spoken to him several times, but right now he does not want to play."
M. Desailly himself seems unwilling to become a player for "Portsmouth." On his personal website, he stated that he intends to become the coach of the national team of his native Ghana.
