The owner of the club Roman Abramovich hinted that his club is planning to acquire the young Spanish football star Fernando Torres. The twenty-year-old striker now plays for the Madrid team.
Chelsea has shown interest in F. Torres before. However, the Atletico club was not willing to sell their star and rejected offers from several powerful European clubs. The proposed amounts reached around 40 million euros.
It is said that the new offer could reach around 35 million pounds. Atletico should also receive not only this amount, but also Chelsea's striker Adrian Mutu, who has recently not been part of the main lineup of the London club.
F. Torres is also of interest to two powerful Spanish football clubs - and Madrid. However, their chances are diminished by the fact that Atletico is not inclined to sell its player to a rival team.
The most realistic date for a possible transfer is said to be during the winter break in January of next year.
