Oleg Romancev was offered to take over the leadership of the Moscow club. This was stated by the club owner Alexej Fedorychev.
In September, it was announced that Oleg Romancev would become a coach-consultant for "Dynamo". It was thought that Romancev would consult the team until the end of the season, while Viktor Bondarenko would continue to fulfill the duties of head coach.
"Everything will depend on the results shown by the team," said Alexander Lvov, representing the Moscow club to the press, "and also on whether Romancev's work will satisfy the club management and whether Romancev will agree to work under the agreed conditions."
"I think Oleg Romancev is the best coach in the former Soviet territory, so I invited him to help me at Dynamo," commented coach Viktor Bondarenko on the situation back then, giving an interview to the newspaper "Sport-Express". "I am glad that he responded to this offer, and Zavarzin supported this idea. We are thinking not only about this season, but also about the future of Dynamo."
"We played in the same championship together. 24 years ago, Romancev, being the captain, along with his partners carried me off the field. It was after my farewell game, I was playing for Rostov's "SKA" back then," noted Bondarenko.
It is worth reminding that the former Moscow "Spartak" and Russian national team coach, who once brought eight championship titles to the red and white team, was unemployed this year and took a break from football.
