Club coach Arsene Wenger has announced that his team intends to look for a new defender. The Frenchman said he would like to sign a new defender during the winter break.
This summer A. Wenger was actively interested in defender Hatem Trabelsi. Unfortunately, negotiations with the Tunisian player broke down.
"I think we have more midfielders and attackers than defenders," said A. Wenger. "We wanted to fix that this summer, but now we will try during the winter break."
After defender Martin Keown left the club in the summer, A. Wenger's selection pool decreased even more. Currently, there are only two formal center defenders in the club - Sol Campbell and Pascal Cygan.
Promising defender Philippe Senderos has not yet made his debut in the main lineup due to injury.
