Today, on Tuesday, a press conference took place at the National Football Clubs Association (NFKA). During it, NFKA director Romas Stašauskas explained his reasons for resigning.

In Stašauskas' opinion, the director of the Association should be a neutral, unrelated to football clubs, freelancer with managerial and negotiation skills. It is known that Stašauskas is also the president of Vilnius' "Vėtra" club.

Another reason is that two NFKA Board decisions regarding the relocation of matches "Kaunas" - "Šilutė" and "Kaunas" - "Vėtra". NFKA director voted against the relocation of these matches in meetings but faced criticism and conflicting opinions that not only other clubs but also the interests of the Lithuanian national football team were violated.

Former NFKA director reviewed the work done by NFKA. "Our Association's "A Lyga" championship organized by us is going smoothly. NFKA fulfills all its commitments. I am absolutely calm about the end of the championship and the future of NFKA," said R.Stašauskas, who remains a member of the NFKA Board.

Stašauskas also emphasized the successful cooperation of the association with UEFA. "UEFA support for club children and youth development programs - 273,100 Swiss francs - has already been sent by UEFA and should reach Lithuanian football clubs in the near future," said R. Stašauskas.

Reviewing the cooperation with the Lithuanian Football Federation (LFF), the former NFKA leader missed closer cooperation and goodwill from the leaders of LFF.

"In the NFKA Board, one place is allocated to LFF, represented by LFF President L. Varanavičius. So LFF has the opportunity to participate in the decision-making process of NFKA. Meanwhile, the Association has repeatedly turned to LFF leaders for the NFKA to be allocated a place in the LFF Executive Committee, unfortunately, this request was left unanswered. This would undoubtedly promote cooperation, as well as the successful consultations with UEFA's Professional Football and Leagues Department leaders, who are invited to be consultants in addressing issues of competence division between NFKA and LFF," summarized the former director.

The new NFKA director was also introduced to the media. Former NFKA manager Martynas Jakimauskas was appointed to this position.
