The General Director of the Football Associations of Serbia and Montenegro, Branko Bulatovič, died late in the evening of the same day after yesterday morning's attempt on his life. Bulatovič, who has never received any threats or hints that someone would want his death, was attacked by the criminal from the bushes on the stairs leading to the entrance of the association's building. According to the police report, the killer approached Bulatovič from behind and shot him in the head. After the shot, Bulatovič lay in a pool of blood in a coma on the stairs, while the criminal fled. Witnesses described him as a 40-year-old man with a beard. Although he has not been found yet, the police have created a photofit based on the witnesses' descriptions. This crime was strongly condemned by the entire football world, expressing deep condolences to Bulatovič's family. The Serbia and Montenegro team will face the Lithuanian national team in the qualification cycle for the 2006 FIFA World Cup, which will take place in Germany.
