Ronaldo and Roberto Carlos will try to get Spanish passports © EuroFootball.com

The team asked two Brazilian team legionnaires - Ronaldo and Roberto Carlos, to apply for Spanish citizenship. If both players became Spanish citizens, it would free up space for new royal club purchases from abroad.

According to the rules in force in Spain, clubs must have no more than three players from non-European Union countries. At the moment, all three places in the Madrid club are taken, because in addition to Brazilians, there is also Argentinian Walter Samuel.

Both Ronaldo and Roberto Carlos can apply for Spanish citizenship, as they have been working in this country for two years. If Samuel wanted citizenship, he would have to wait only a year, as he is married to a Spaniard.
