Club striker Mista unexpectedly denied rumors about a possible departure from Spain and signed a new long-term contract with the champions of La Liga. The 25-year-old striker will stay at the club until the summer of 2010.
It was rumored that the little-used striker this season was not satisfied with his situation at the club and wanted to leave. Mista himself recently stated that he does not intend to extend his contract and even rejected a new contract offer from Valencia.
Former Valencia coach Rafael Benitez, who is currently coaching, actively showed interest in the player. This was not denied by the Spanish team's strategist C. Ranieri. There were rumors that Mista could move to England during the upcoming transfer window.
