"Dinamo" from Minsk won the penultimate round match with a score of 2-0 against "BATE" from Borisov, who was in second place, and after a seven-year break became the champions of Belarus.
Before this match, "BATE" was only two points behind "Dinamo", but the new champions managed to win at home and secure the title with one round left in the championship.
The title of champions secured "Dinamo" a place in the next year's Champions League qualifying stage, while the 1999 and 2002 champions "BATE" in second place and the Belarusian Cup winner "Shakhtyor" in third place will compete in the UEFA Europa League next year.
Minsk's "Dinamo" won their first five national championships since 1992, when Belarus began holding its own national championship after the collapse of the Soviet Union. "Dinamo" is also the only Belarusian team to have won the Soviet Union championship in 1982."
