Having spent a year without football, 49-year-old Argentinian Hector Cuper has returned to Spain and will once again coach the team from the city of Mallorca.
With "Mallorca," H. Cuper agreed on a three-year contract and he will replace Benito Floro in the position of head coach, who was fired last week after an unsuccessful start to the season.
At the beginning of his career, H. Cuper coached "Huracan" and "Lanus," then worked with "Mallorca" from 1997 to 1999, in his second season with "Mallorca" Cuper reached the final of the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup, where the Spanish team lost to Roma's "Lazio" club.
Later, the coach lost in the finals of the Champions League in 2000 and 2001 with "Valencia." In 2002, coaching "Inter," the title of the Italian "Serie A" champion slipped away on the last day of the competition. In November 2003, H. Cuper left "Inter's" services and spent a year without football.
