"Ekranas" responded to accusations at a press conference © EuroFootball.com

Today, on November 5th at 18:00, Panevėžio football club "Ekranas" held a press conference. Some documents related to the so-called "scandal" held by FK "Ekranas" were made public during the event.

First of all, the press conference included an appeal from the FK "Ekranas" team to the club's management, addressed to journalists and gathered representatives of FK "Ekranas" fans. It stated that the players are openly threatened, terrorized by phone calls, and offered large sums of money. The letter requested to guarantee the safety of the players and protect their peace.

A meeting of the club's board of directors took place on October 29th. In the minutes No.10 it was noted that "security services were hired until the end of the NFKA "A" league championship". It was also decided to confidentially inform the president of LFF, the general director of LFF, the president of LFTA, the director of NFKA, and all members of the NFKA board about the abnormal situation that had arisen.

"We are sure that this message precisely caused the fire and flood of mud towards FK "Ekranas"," said former NFKA board member Danutė Matuzienė during the press conference.

"The final straw that overflowed the patience of some NFKA board members was the official letter from FK "Ekranas" director Albert Klimavičius, in which he informed that the NFKA board on November 4th at 19:45 lost its legal powers, as their term, validated for a year, ended right then. We believe that the meeting of the five clubs that took place today at the "Ūkio" bank holds no legal power," emphasized club member D. Matuzienė.

FK "Ekranas" does not recognize the illegal meeting of the NFKA board that took place on November 5th in Kaunas. They consider its decisions null and void.

The head coach of FK "Ekranas", Virginijus Liubšys, stated: "If I could, I would build a monument for the men of my team. For their honor, courage, and professionalism. Come on, come over, let's all be at the "Aukštaitija" stadium this Sunday. I respect FBK "Kaunas" team and its coaches, I don't believe they will succumb to the pressure. I await you at the stadium this Sunday. Let's play with honor."

Tomorrow, on Saturday, an extraordinary meeting of the FK "Ekranas" Board of Directors will take place. The agenda includes one question - to buy tickets for all Lithuanian football fans so that they can watch this year's Lithuanian football championship final for free at the "Aukštaitija" stadium at 13:00 this Sunday. We are waiting for everyone.
