During the 10th round of the Spanish championship ("La Liga") matches that took place on Saturday (11 06), the tournament leader Barcelona team defeated La Coruna's Deportivo eleven, while Seville's Betis and Albacete played a draw.
In the match held at the Camp Nou stadium in Barcelona, Deportivo took the lead in the 7th minute when veteran Franas sent the ball into the right corner of the goal with a long-range shot. However, the visitors' lead didn't last long, as Xavi equalized the score after sixteen minutes after a pass from defender Belletti. Barcelona's victory was sealed in the 35th minute by the top scorer of the Spanish championship Samuel Eto'o. Frenchman Ludovic Giuly found himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper and passed the ball to the free Eto'o, who only had to send the ball into the empty net.
The match ended unsuccessfully for Barcelona defender Juliano Belletti, who had to be carried off the field due to a leg injury.
Barcelona is the only team in the Spanish championship that has not experienced a defeat, while Deportivo's loss yesterday was already their third this season.
Throughout its history, the Catalan superclub began a season as well as in the 1996/1997 season, when the team was managed by Sir Bobby Robson.
