On Tuesday, the Lithuanian Football Federation (LFF) informed the International Football Association Federation (FIFA) that international football matches will be organized and held at the Kaunas S. Darius and S. Girėnas Stadium.

Two weeks after the Lithuanian national team's match with Spain at the "Žalgiris" Stadium, LFF received a letter from FIFA stating that Lithuanian stadiums where international football matches take place do not meet safety and hygiene standards, and the infrastructure does not meet the requirements.

Therefore, LFF was obliged to provide a response to FIFA by November 10 regarding the resolution of the mentioned issues, and with the promise of Kaunas city authorities to help reconstruct the Darius and Girėnas Stadium, it was decided that the national team should play World Cup qualifying matches there.

The next official home game for the Lithuanians awaits them on September 7, 2005, against the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team. As the match approaches, a delegate from FIFA will be sent to inspect and evaluate whether the stadium meets the requirements.

Meanwhile, LFF also announced negotiations for friendly matches with the Georgian national team. Currently, it is being discussed that the friendly matches between the two teams could take place on February 5 next year in Georgia.
