The match in Madrid resembled more of a "Real" training session - as the "Los Galacticos" players from their time displayed their best on the field. The game shone with excellent displays of technique from Zinedine Zidane and Brazilian forward Ronaldo. In the first minute of the match, "Real" defenders passed the ball in their own half, but at the opportune moment, they passed it forward and in the first attack, a goal fell into the "Albacete" goal when Raul continued Zidane's lifted corner with his head, and Ronaldo was left to send the ball into the net from a few meters. Although the guests managed to equalize in the 15th minute - it was after an unfortunate mistake by Walter Samuel leading to a goal by Francisco, "Real" did not delay in proving their supremacy - in the 29th minute of the match, Zidane sent the ball with a strong left-footed strike from outside the penalty area into the right corner of the goal. Just a few minutes later, the "Real" captain Raul scored another goal.

At the start of the second half, after defender Walter Samuel's goal, the result became 4-1, and at the end of the match, "Albacete" was saved from more goals only by goalkeeper Gasparcicius and luck - in the last ten minutes, one "Real" attack followed another. Ronaldo even had several chances to score, but failed to shoot accurately when facing the goalkeeper. However, it was precisely after Ronaldo's pass that Michael Owen found himself one-on-one against the goalkeeper and managed to send the ball into the goal. This was already the fourth goal scored by the Englishman gaining form in the Spanish championship. In the first added minute of added time, Ronaldo scored his second goal in these matches, deceiving several defenders in the penalty area and sending the ball into the net from around 8 meters away.
