Blatteris: this is an exclusive championship © EuroFootball.com

President of FIFA Sepp Blatter strongly rejects critics' statements about the quality of football in the World Cup and the empty seats in stadiums.

"Every World Cup creates its own history and has its own culture," Blatter told Sportsweek. "This was a championship held on a continent that had never seen it before, with a new culture, so it should be analyzed from different aspects.

"If we look at the enthusiasm in South Africa and the number of television viewers, it was an exceptional championship.".

According to Blatter, FIFA should not be blamed for the unattractive football in some matches: "For me, the championship was very attractive and emotional. Yes, there were empty seats in stadiums, but let's not forget that 95% of all tickets were sold."."
