In the Planet Football Championship - triumph of the Spanish national team. Starting the tournament with a loss, Vicente del Bosque's team rose to the occasion and defeated the Netherlands in the final with a minimal score of 1-0, securing the title of the world's strongest national team for the first time in history.

It was the nineteenth World Cup, and Spain became the eighth different winner of the tournament.

The only goal of the match, which lacked neither passion nor yellow cards, was scored by Andres Iniesta, who found the net from 10 meters away with just a few minutes left until the end of the second half of extra time. The Barcelona midfielder sent the ball into the goal.

Throughout the game, the Spaniards had the initiative, but the Dutch counterattacked dangerously several times. Arjen Robben missed perhaps the best chance - one-on-one against the goalkeeper, the footballer failed to get past Iker Casillas who had outstretched his leg to deflect the ball.

In the opposite end of the field, Cesc Fabregas, who entered the field as a substitute, failed to convert a similar opportunity, David Villa lacked accuracy from close range, but ultimately Iniesta decided the deserved victory of the European champions.
