The coach of the Spanish national team, Vicente Del Bosque, predicts that the European and current world champions will dominate the planet's football for at least another year.
"I believe that our efforts and abilities will never end," said the specialist. "We continue what we started in 2008 by winning the European Championship."
The only goal in the final against the Netherlands at the end of extra time was scored by Andres Iniesta.
"In the locker room, everyone is caught in ecstasy. Spain has deserved this triumph - it means much more than just a sporting victory. We can celebrate and we are very happy to give all Spaniards the opportunity to do so," added the coach.
Del Bosque also praised the opponents: "We have to congratulate the opponents. It was not easy for us to play the way we wanted, and they had opportunities to score.
"Trying to match the Dutch when they show all their speed is difficult. But I think we dominated."
