Paulis, the octopus who has never made a mistake predicting World Cup results, has decided to retire from his career as an Oracle.
The eight-legged creature became an international sensation two years ago when he correctly predicted the outcomes of all the matches of the German national team and also that Spain would defeat the Netherlands in the final.
However, the aquarium officials in Germany decided that the octopus should return to his usual job - entertaining children.
"He will be very popular in Spain," admitted Andres Iniesta, who scored the winning goal in the final.
The correct prediction of the World Cup outcome was the peak of the octopus's career - he outshone his brightest competitor, the parrot Mani, who had hoped for a Dutch victory.
