Brazil blames Melo for scoring an own goal with vuvuzelas (VIDEO) © EuroFootball.com

Brazil's Felipe Melo, who scored an own goal in the quarterfinals of the World Cup, blames the non-stop buzzing vuvuzelas in South African stadiums for his mistake.

It is worth noting that later this goal was officially credited to the Dutch player Wesley Sneijder.

The Turin Juventus footballer received the most criticism after his unsuccessful performance in the national team at the World Cup, as he was also sent off the field in the quarterfinal.

"I don't want to be a scapegoat," said Melo. "It seems like everything I did was wrong, but you forget that after my pass, Robinho scored a goal, and I performed well in other matches.

"I know I am partly to blame for the loss to the Netherlands, but I gave it my all. Goalkeeper Julio Cesar asked to leave the ball in that episode, but it's hard to hear through the vuvuzelas."
