The club will soon be joined by the selection of the Ivory Coast and club defender Emmanuel Eboue. The 21-year-old footballer has signed a long-term contract, lasting 4 and a half years.
“Beveren” club announces that E. Eboue will join the London club in January, when clubs can again buy new players. The transfer fee is not officially announced.
“He will definitely join us,” said Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger. “He is a very versatile player. He can play as a central defender, right-back, or in the holding position.”
E. Eboue came this summer for a trial at the Premier League champions club and represented them several times in friendly matches. However, he failed to establish himself in England, as at that time Arsenal was trying to acquire defender Hatem Trabelsi. With the deal falling through, the gunners once again turned their attention to the young E. Eboue.
