This weekend in the German championship, the fourteenth round matches were played. For the first time this season, Bayern Munich became the leader of the championship, surpassing the struggling Wolfsburg.
Bayern defeated Kaiserslautern at home. Although the visitors took the lead in the sixth minute of the match, Bayern did not falter and secured a victory with a 3-1 result, placing them at the top of the Bundesliga after more than a year.
Previous leader Wolfsburg had to acknowledge the advantage of a recovering Hamburg team on the road. A surprise was recorded in Leverkusen - the local Bayer club failed to resist the Schalke team and lost 0-3.
Stuttgart climbed to fourth place by defeating Gladbach at home, while Hannover found themselves in fifth place after a draw with Nurnberg. The match between Hertha and Hansa ended in a draw as well.
The round was successful for the league newcomers: Mainz defeated Bochum by a narrow margin at home, while Arminia managed to defeat defending champions Werder by a 2-1 score. Meanwhile, the struggling Borussia team overcame the outsider Freiburg this season.
