Rafael Marquez terminated his contract with the club, thus paving the way for a move to the New York Red Bulls.
The contract of the Mexican national team player was supposed to be valid for two more years, however both sides decided to terminate the cooperation and announced it on the official website of the Spanish champions.
The 31-year-old Marquez arrived in Barcelona in 2003 from Monaco and during this time became the Spanish champion four times and won the Champions League twice.
