Barcelona fans honored the team's late captain Dani Jarque who passed away a year ago. The central defender unexpectedly died on August 8, 2009, while preparing for the new Spanish championship season.
Hundreds of fans gathered at the stadium carrying scarves, candles, flowers, and photos.
On the television screen, images from last year's tribute to the deceased and the best footballer episodes wearing "Espanyol" jerseys were shown.
In an open letter addressing his team mate, the Catalan club's forward Ferran Corominas wrote: "I want you to know that I miss you very much. You will always be in my heart. Only a part of you remains in our daughter Martina - I will watch her grow."
