Official: Carvalho will supplement "Real" ranks © EuroFootball.com

Real Madrid has acquired London defender Ricardo Carvalho for 8 million euros. Upon reaching an agreement on the transfer fee, a few formalities remain to be resolved before the Portuguese player signs a two-year contract. Carvalho joined Chelsea in 2004 for over 20 million euros from Porto. He was called to the team by Jose Mourinho, who is now in charge of Real. The Portuguese national team player did not hide his desire to join the ranks of the Spanish vice-champions, but negotiations took some time. The defender became Real's fifth purchase this summer after Argentine Angel Di Maria, Spaniards Pedro Leon and Sergio Canales, and German Sami Khedira.
