The new head coach of the Australian national team, German Holger Osieck, has been unexpectedly appointed.
The 61-year-old specialist coached Japan's "Urawa Red Diamonds" during the 2007-2008 season, but was dismissed after a few months.
"I am honored that they chose me," he said.
Among the candidates were much more famous names like former Brazilian national team coach Carlos Alberto Parreiros and former Cameroon team coach Paulo Le Guen.
