The club acquired forward Kenwyne Jones for almost €10 million, a record amount for the club.
The 25-year-old footballer signed a four-year contract.
"When his day comes, no one can stop Kenwyne," rejoiced Stoke City manager Tony Pulis. "We need goals and competition among forwards if we want to achieve results."
Last season, Jones played 32 matches in the Premier League and scored 9 goals.
