Strategist Roy Hodgson defended goalkeeper Pepe Reina, who made a mistake and scored an own goal, allowing the "Arsenal" team to secure a draw in the first English league match.
The 'Reds' were close to victory, but in the final minute of regular time, the ball bounced off the crossbar after Marouane Chamakh's shot, and Reina accidentally 'helped' it into the net.
"He struggled to accept this mistake, because he is a true professional who trusts both himself and the team," said Hodgson.
"Pepe will definitely not shy away from responsibility. However, the goalkeeper played well, and he was nursing a shoulder injury, but he returned to the pitch earlier than we expected. So there are many positive things."
