Coach Graeme Souness admitted that during the upcoming summer transfer window he will try to acquire highly rated club center-back Jean-Alain Boumsong.

The reason for this interest is that "Newcastle" sold their main center-back Jonathan Woodgate to Madrid in the summer, so G. Souness does not have many options in that position and would like to strengthen it. As the coach himself stated, J.A. Boumsong is his first choice candidate.

"He is a good player," said G. Souness. "We are looking for defenders to strengthen our club, as we believe we have little choice in this position."

The 24-year-old footballer arrived at "Rangers" this summer after his contract with the club expired. Unofficially, J.A. Boumsong could cost around 8 million euros for the English club.
