Gallas will strengthen Tottenham's ranks © EuroFootball.com

London's "Tottenham" squad is set to be bolstered in the near future by free agent William Gallas.

The 33-year-old French national team member has agreed to put pen to paper on a one-year contract. Formalities will be completed after he undergoes a medical examination.

"It's a great acquisition, knowing that William doesn't have a club," said "Tottenham" manager Harry Redknapp. "He didn't ask for a big salary."

Last season, Gallas represented London's "Arsenal" team, which is one of "Tottenham's" fiercest rivals, so this move is likely to receive mixed reviews.

"What has Gallas done wrong?" Redknapp asked rhetorically on the subject. "He isn't the first to switch from 'Arsenal' to 'Tottenham' or vice versa. It happens all the time."
