At the age of 100, the only living player who had participated in the final stage of the first World Cup, Francisco Varallo, has passed away.

In the 1930 World Cup, the Argentine national team, with Varallo, reached the final but lost to Uruguay 2-4.

Varallo is also a legend of the Argentine club "Boca Juniors" - wearing the team's shirt, he scored 194 goals, a record which was only broken this year by Martin Palermo.

Varallo ended his football career at the age of 30 due to injury, and later worked as a coach in lower league teams in his home country.
