London strategist Harry Redknapp expressed hope that the club managed to sort out all formalities and acquired Real Madrid defender Rafael van der Vaart.
Just before the summer transfer window closed, the English team completed negotiations with the Spanish vice champions, but it is unclear whether everything was done in time.
"We are sitting and waiting for news, whether we were successful," Redknapp said. "We are waiting for confirmation. We can't do anything else."
