Michael Ballack will regain the captain's armband of the German national team when he is called up again, says coach Joachim Low.
At the World Cup, the Germans were led forward by defender Philipp Lahm, who did not hide his desire to continue in this role. Doubts about Ballack were strengthened by the fact that he was not called up for the first matches of the European Championship qualifying tournament.
"I spoke with Ballack and decided that he should remain captain," Low said. "But I added that at this moment, recovering from injury, he cannot help the national team."
