Nigel de Jong insists he will not regret a very rough tackle on Spain's national team defender Xabi Alonso.
The Dutchman, during the World Cup, tried to stop his opponent with a "kung fu" style move, but managed to avoid being sent off the field. However, referee Howard Webb later admitted that he should have shown a red card.
Nevertheless, De Jong told the "Sunday Mirror" that he did not intend to injure Alonso: "I have no regrets. I didn't intend to hurt him."
He added: "After the World Cup I returned to 'Man City' as a different player. After all, I played in the World Cup final, which gives a different status."
