Strategist Pep Guardiola did not take advantage of the opportunity to buy Angel di Maria for a lower price than what Madrid's "Real" paid for him.
According to the newspaper "Marca," the Spanish champions had reached an agreement with Lisbon's "Benfica" for a price of 20 million euros, but Guardiola broke off the deal because he tends to rely as much as possible on local talents rather than foreigners.
Later on, "Real" did not hesitate to pay 25 million euros for the Argentine.
