Owner of Edinburgh "Hearts" Vladimir Romanov did not spare harsh words for Scottish football leaders and the national team, but he did not praise the Lithuanian national team either.
One of the wealthiest people in our country watched the European Championship qualifying match between Scotland and Lithuania, which ended in a draw, in Kaunas on Friday. He was accompanied by the "Hearts" strategist Jim Jefferies.
"I feel sorry for Scottish fans who came to Kaunas," Romanov said to "Scotsman". "They deserve to see real football, not business performances, where they see men in suits being booted year after year.
"Even huge fines that they pay don't help. It would be better for them to hire me as a consultant."
In Scotland, Romanov is constantly fined for critical remarks about referees and football leaders.
"Speaking about the match, two impotent teams with high ambitions played. Even the referee couldn't help Scotland win, even though he tried very hard," he stated.
"Complaints about referees in Scotland are part of the preparation for other matches, where they would like to see opponent players removed from the field. But despite all this, they can't overcome anything."
And he added: "Speaking about the Lithuanian national team, there were three players in their starting lineup who couldn't even make it into the lineup of the "Kaunas" club."
