During the second European Championship qualifying tournament match, the Lithuanian national team surprised and won 1-0 against the Czech team in an away game.
The only goal was scored in the 26th minute by Darvydas Šernas after a pass from Marius Stankevičius.
The hosts had a great opportunity to equalize the score in the 40th minute, but Milan Baroš failed to convert the penalty kick awarded by the referee - his shot was saved by Žydrūnas Karčemarskas without any mistakes.
At the end of the match, the Czechs tried to storm the Lithuanian goal, but they were unsuccessful in their attempt. The most realistic chance to level the score came in extra time with Tomáš Necid, but his shot from a few meters was blocked by Karčemarskas.
In the other match of this group, Scotland defeated Liechtenstein 2-1 after a dramatic battle. The winning goal was scored by the hosts in the 97th minute, even though the referee had only added 5 minutes of extra time.
