One of the most coveted players in recent years, the right-back of Sevilla, Joaquin, expressed his desire to play one day in the ranks of Madrid or in England.

His childhood dream of playing for Betis is the reason behind this desire, as he has never played in any European club tournaments.

For some time now, the Spanish national team's right-back has been watched by Real Madrid, who sees Joaquin as the ideal successor to Portugal's Luis Figo on the right wing. However, the 23-year-old Spaniard hinted to UEFA.com that he wouldn't mind playing in England.

"I always talk to Jose (Jose Antonio Reyes representing Arsenal in London) whenever we meet at the national team camp," said Joaquin. "He says he's enjoying living there more and more. I know it would be tough for me at the beginning in England, but I am sure I would adapt quickly."

"But if one day I had to leave Betis, would there be a better team than Real?" Joaquin questioned. "It's one of those clubs where every player dreams of playing. It would be a huge honor for me to play alongside Luis Figo, as he is my idol. Of course, it could be difficult, as we play in similar positions."

"Florentino Perez (Real Madrid president) knows that in order to acquire me, he must first speak to the Betis president," Joaquin stated. "You should know that I have already turned down a very lucrative offer (Chelsea offered €30 million for him in the summer - author's note) to stay in Spain."
