"FIFA President Sepp Blatter claims to be satisfied with how this year's World Cup went, and is considering the possibility of bringing back the golden goal rule.

"In the tournament, I saw some truly great things," said Blatter. "Football has become a very strategic game - teams moved as one unit. It can be a spectacular sight, as the times of attacking and then defending are already in the past.

"However, in the first matches of the group stage, we saw that some teams entered the field to avoid defeat and play for a draw from the very first minute. I would like to consider this issue.

"We need to find a way to encourage national teams to play a more open football and fight for victory in such tournaments." Blatter continued: "We also plan to discuss the concept of extra time. We see that teams are increasingly focusing on defense during extra time, as they absolutely do not want to concede a goal. To avoid this, we can eliminate extra time altogether and go straight to a penalty shootout, or bring back the golden goal rule."
