The Czech goalkeeper Tomas Cerny admitted that his country was stunned by the defeat in the first European Championship qualifying match at home to the Lithuanian national team.
Raimondas Žutautas's players managed to beat one of the group's favorites 1-0 away.
Cerny, who represents the "Hamilton" club and was not called up to the national team, said: "Unfortunately, I watched all 90 minutes. The football wasn't good, and we didn't play as we should have.
"There was great disappointment in the country because when a team like Lithuania arrives, they expect to win 3-0 or 4-0. However, those times are in the past, so it won't be easy in the future.
"The Czech Republic is no longer as strong as it used to be. Three or four years ago, we probably would have easily beaten the Lithuanians.
"But now Lithuania has improved, and the Czech Republic is going through a transitional period, trying to incorporate more youth into the team."
Cerny added that the loss in the upcoming home match against Scotland could be crucial: "We all understand that this match will be especially important. If we don't secure a victory, everything could end very early."
